Everybody needs a helping hand. At ACS we aim to support and develop our young people to provide them with the best chance of living independently.
ACS Semi Independent Living provisions consist of specialist 24-hour staffed accommodation for young people aged 16-18.
Our Semi Independent Living provisions consist of specialist 24-hour staffed accommodation for young people aged 16-18. These provisions cater to young people with complex needs and challenging behaviours. This is a holistic accommodation-based service which aims to prevent and/or reduce negative behaviours in young people. The nature of Semi Independent Living also helps to equip young people with the life skills necessary to live independently.
Local authorities referring to this service will benefit from market leading communication initiatives, including our renowned risk management processes and of course our popular monitoring and reporting tools.
Our primary aim when working with young people is to ensure they develop the skills to live fully independently. To do this, when young people are placed with us, our team of skilled staff will provide the following tailored services as required by the young people, in order to build and maintain the young person’s independent living skills:
- Support with maintaining a clean and safe living environment
- Daily reflective support on behaviour and conduct
- Preventing incidents intelligently and managing incidents professionally if they are to arise
- Supervised food and grocery shopping
- Administering money/budgeting
Regular CV / Interview Workshops in our dedicated training facility
- Support with Self-harm reduction
- Support to attend community based appointments
- Support with engaging in training, education or employment
- Support with attending leisure and health activities
- Support with reducing substance or alcohol abuse and the reduction of sexualised and sexually harmful behaviour
- Additional staffing 24 hour 1:1/ 2:1 etc (if required)
- Waking night staffing (if required)

Supervised Contacts
ACS Supervised Contact and Assessment Service is dedicated to making contact between children and parents less stressful, especially for the children, where circumstances make it difficult to meet in any other way. t each contact session a “Contact Supervisor” will be present, they are there to ensure that children are safe, to offer guidance, encourage play activities and help smooth over any problems that might arise. All referrals are dealt with appropriately and assessed on an individual basis by the Service Manager or Senior Social Worker Details of service
This service is available seven days per week (subject to availability) during the day and evenings.
- Experienced staff are able to collect a child or young person and supervise contact with family members at an alternative venue.
- A record and any observations of contact will be given to the referring agency as soon as practicable after the contact session.
- The contact will be arranged to fit in with the child’s education and parent’s work pattern where possible. We expect parents to arrange their own transport.
- Every consideration will be given to the matching of staff and family for each contact session within the resources available.
